Eligibility

The 2021 Michelson Prizes are open to early-career researchers under 35 at the time of application, and will focus on human immunology, vaccine discovery and immunotherapy research.

Funding Priorities

  • ​The Michelson Medical Research Foundation (MMRF) together with the Human Vaccines Project established the Michelson Prizes for Vaccine Research in 2017. This $20 million initiative, funded by the MMRF and administered by the Human Vaccines Project, supports young investigators who are using disruptive research concepts and inventive processes to significantly advance the discovery of vaccines and immunotherapies for major global diseases.
  • The 2021 Michelson Prizes will focus on transformative research in human immunology, with transdisease applications to accelerate vaccine and immunotherapeutic discovery. 
  • The Foundation encourages applications from the full spectrum of scientific disciplines related to immunology, vaccine, and immunotherapy research, including but not limited to: Clinical Research, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Protein engineering, Computer science, AI/Machine Learning, Biophysics, Nanotechnology, Bioengineering, Microbiome
