UNM STEM Educational Landscape: Strength and Opportunities

Highlights from a recent report created for the UNM STEM Collaborative and its relation to teaching and student learning will be presented and discussed. The report, entitled, Status of STEM Education at The University of New Mexico: A Survey of the Landscape, compiled findings from a series of interviews with UNM faculty and administrators and focus groups with undergraduates to develop a summary of various perspectives of the STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) educational experience. This report is meant to assist faculty who seek STEM funding, as well as to open dialogue on STEM education best practices. The talk will last around 40 minutes with an additional 20 minutes for Q&A. All members of the university community are welcome. You can download copies of the report from both the STEM Collaborative Center and Center for Education Policy Research.
