Assistant Professor Desai Named National Academy of Education / Spencer Postdoctoral Fellow

UNM faculty member Shiv Desai has been named a prestigious National Academy of Education (NAEd) / Spencer Postdoctoral Fellow due to his research and dedication to the field of education. Dr. Shiv R. Desai is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Teacher Education, Education Leadership, and Policy in the College of Education at the University of New Mexico. His project is titled, "Unloved, Unwanted, and Unsure: The Counternarratives of Incarcerated Youth"

UNM Chemistry Professor Awarded NSF CAREER Award

UNM Assistant Professor Ramesh Giri was recently awarded the NSF CAREER award for his research in "SusChEM: Development of Tandem and Multi-Component Couplings with Base Metals and Organic Electron Donors". Giri, who is originally from Nepal and started at UNM in 2012, has also been working with the South Valley Academy, an Albuquerque area charter school, to reach out to students interested in chemistry.
