Jin Zhang, an assistant professor in The University of New Mexico's Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences, was recently awarded a $600,000 National Science Foundation CAREER grant to pursue new research on the elastic anisotropy of mantle minerals and potential relationships with mantle flows.
Assistant Professor Marie Vasek was recently awarded a CISE Research Initiation Initiative grant from the National Science Foundation. The goal of this program is to contribute to the growth and development of future generations of scientists and engineers who will dedicate their careers to advancing research and education in the areas that CISE funds, and specifically to assist those investigators who do not have adequate organizational or other means of support to pursue their early-career research.
